Brakes are one of the most vital parts of any vehicle. We inspect and repair brakes on almost all makes and models, using leading brand parts, with work guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles. Checked first, quoted before anything is done.

It depends on what has worn and what the car is. A set of front pads on a small hatchback is a very different job from pads and discs on all four corners of a large SUV with an electronic parking brake. The make and model sets the part prices and the labour time, and whether you need pads alone or pads and discs, front or rear, and the brand of part you choose all change the figure, as does any extra such as a brake fluid change or a wear sensor.
That is why we check before we quote. Book a brake check with your reg, we put the car on the ramp, measure what is left and give you a written price for exactly what it needs, broken down so you can see what is urgent and what can wait. There is no obligation, nothing is paid online, and work over £250 can be spread with 0% finance.
The technician takes the wheels off where needed and measures the thickness of the pads and discs against the manufacturer's minimum. They look at the condition of the discs for scoring, lipping or warping, check the calipers, pipes, hoses and fluid for leaks and corrosion, and test the handbrake or parking brake. If a warning light brought you in, we read the fault codes too.
Then we show you what we found, in plain English, with the worn parts in front of you where we can. You decide what happens next, not us.
Brake pads are designed to wear and are the part most often replaced. Discs wear too, more slowly, and once they are below their minimum thickness, badly scored or warped they need to go at the same time, because new pads on a worn disc will not bed in properly and will not last. Pads and discs are always replaced in pairs across an axle so the car brakes evenly.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point and can give a soft pedal, so most manufacturers recommend changing it every two years. An ABS or brake warning light usually needs a diagnostic check to find the sensor at fault before any parts are ordered.
A brake check is quick and you are welcome to wait. For the repair itself, we tell you how long when we quote, because it depends on the job and whether the parts are in stock. If the car needs to stay with us, ask for a courtesy car when you book or we can collect from your home or work in Lincoln and bring the car back when it is done.
Yes. We only fit leading brand parts, and our brake work is guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. If anything is not right in that time, bring the car back to Pioneer Way and we will put it right.
We are an independent garage and an approved HiQ Tyres and Autocare centre, audited every year, at Unit 1, Pioneer Business Park, Lincoln LN6 3DH. As a DVSA approved MOT station for Class 4 and 7, we test brakes on the rollers every day and know what the examiner is looking for. Our technicians work on cars and vans up to 3.5 tonnes of almost any make and age, and everything is quoted before it starts.
It is not safe to rely on a warning light, so if something feels wrong, bring the car in for a no-obligation check. We quote before any repair starts, on cars and vans of almost any make and age.
